No Spaces in Between - Shuab Ahmed (Final Product)
Evaluation
Message:
The main concept and story of this video is the journey of a Boy waking up in the morning, getting dressed, catching the bus to the studio and making a song but there's a twist. The group and I decided we didn't just want me going through this whole process, but we wanted a girl playing my part. We studied videos such as Ciara's Like a Boy and Beyonce's If i were a boy and we wanted to give a girl the role of a boy. We thought it would be much better then watching a guy wake up and go to the studio. We also thought that we can't just have a girl go from her bed to the studio but we wanted something added to that. We come across another video made by ice cube where he had specific colours in his video and the rest was black and white. We took on that idea and decided to have everything black and white except for the colour blue. We thought that blue was a manly colour and we felt that if we incorporated that with the girl acting like a boy it would be a good idea.
What Impact has this video had:
The main impact of this video was to portray that women can do what ever men can do and that was the message we wanted to portray. A women can be as manly as a man which is sown through the colour blue in this video.
Production:
- Target Audience: the intended target audience is anyone above the age of 16 due to the inappropriate language that is used a few times.
- Software Used: The software used was Adobe Premier and for the Blue colour we used Nikon with colour selection.
- Shots Used: A variety of shots were used but mostly medium shots to show the face and the hand movements. A few close up were used to show the writing on the mask for example and some POV shots were taken to show Sam going into the bus.
Improvements:
Some one the shots could be improved. Added s few more clips to add a variety of cut shots. Except for just blue, we could add more manly colours to emphasise manlyness. We could have also went into a professional recording studio if we could which could of made the video look more professional.
Convention in Narrative videos
In some narrative based music videos, directors and camera men incorporate a establishing shot so that the opening scene can give the viewer a idea of where the music video is based.
In these shots you can see the director has right from the start introduced to us where the story is set.
performance videos also include a close up of the artist singing along to the lyrics.
in these shots, taylor and katy are lip syncing to their song to make it look like they are singing along to it.
Some artist relate their videos to an artwork or something that has inspired them. in the picture below Bruno Mars was inspired by the art work of Erika Iris Simmons to create his music video.

Conventions - Lady Gaga Music videos
As you can see in the above picture the repetitive camera shot were Lady gaga is next to a man. This shot is filmed using a close up of her and the other man. This could resemble religious scriptures where people say that the devil whispers in your ears and this represent gaga in her scenes in these shots.
All the shots above are all close ups of lady gaga. she likes to incorporate close up shots of her face because it shows her emotion and she also takes the opportunity of a close up to show off her make up on her face.

new ideas for video - projection
This image has bought inspiration to me because i like the way Jay-Z stands in front of the USA flag. I would like to incorporate this idea into my video by having some involvement of the British flag or Bangladesh flag in my video.
Rain is a essence of sadness and depression. I would like to add this to my video because my video has some heartfelt lyrics and some lyrics that talk about the depressing times in my life so including rain would really bring a sense of depression and sadness.
I like picture of space because the song chorus includes 'no spaces in between' and i like how i can incorporate space with the term 'no spaces in between' which could also mean the forget the sky, the space isn't even the limit.
I
found this image in kanye west videos 'all of the lights' . In parts of our video Samantha is catching a bus to the studio so if we can get a small cut scene of her looking at the bus timetable it would be a great little cut scene.
i wanted to use this image because it shows a space bar which could relate to the 'no spaces'. we could have a 'X' through it showing no spaces in between.
graffiti gives a sense of the streets and it basically is street artwork. if we can incorporate graffiti in our video we can bring a sense of the streets and art work.
This clip was taken from Bruno Mar's 'It will rain' music video. I like how Bruno is standing next to the projector and the light is bouncing off him. we could add this type of scene to our video because we may incorporate a projection in our music video.
This clip was taken from B.O.B 'Airplanes'. he has a projection on him while he stand in the corner plus he has some text coming off that projection which gives it a really good effect.
i wanted to involve a Bangladesh flag in my video because i am a Bengali and i want people to know about my roots.
In one of the lyrics in my song there is a part where i say ' I'm a mastermind behind very line' i think that if i add a brain it depicts a clever person or a genius so i can bring that out in this image.
The two images above and below will scroll up on the projection behind Sam. i want a gun and drugs because in one of the lyrics i say 'In a environment of guns and drugs' and incorporate these images with that lyric make it very creative.
I like this image because it shows a super team with super man. I want this behind either me or Sam because i want one of us to replace superman to show that we are the leader of a super team.
megaphones shows a sense of superiority and loudness and in my lyrics it goes it 'seems like the public doesn't want to listen to me' so adding a megaphone could symbolize me wanting everyone to hear what i have to say.

We Found Love Study
The video starts with a establishing shot of some flats where they seem to live. so right at the start it is setting the scene for the audience telling them what the location is and where everything is set.
In this scene rihanna and the actor she is in love with are showing affection to each other while the whole room is spinning around them. in this scene it shows hallucination because the world is spinning around them. They must be high of love because this is depicted through them showing affection to each other and the world around them spinning.
In this random cut scene there is thunder and lightening. This shows fear and distress. The dark glooming clouds and the hints of light from the lightening bring a sense of hidden purity within darkness.
The scene of the thunder and lightening is shown here with a mid shot of rihanna with the video of the thunder and lightening projected onto her while she wraps herself in her coat.
The close up on the eyes in this shot show the eyes diluting. This happens when people have too much of a certain drug so this could be the diluting of the eyes after having a certain drug.
the colours of this cigarette are changing into rainbow colours. This close up could be the bright and colourful colours you see while you are 'high'
this scene is a jackpot machine with losers bouncing around the screen. This could mean that rihanna and her partner are only going to lose what they have and this love means nothing.
The collapsing of this building could resemble the falling of their love story. Also there is a contradiction between this video and rihanna because the banner on the building says 'controlled demolition' whereas the love rihanna has with her partner is uncontrollable and is why they are falling apart.
In this scene it shows a house burning down but the projection makes it look like that she is in the house burning down with it.
In this scene you can see the projected video of the building falling down which could resemble rihanna falling apart in this relationship.
In this scene there is a small cut scene of sirens on top of a police car. Police is oftenly resembled as help and security which goes with the next scene i captured.
this scene links with the above scene because rihanna's partner comes to her help when she is passed out on a curb.
In this scene rihanna is packing up and leaving while her partner is laying down on the floor hopeless to do anything. it shows that she is superior because of the levels they are on like her standing up and him laying down plus he is holding her at her feet which could resemble him begging her to stay lowering his status with her.

how is Green Screen Filmed - Taken From omdzmedia.blogspot.com
Green Screen Background is a special effect that makes a subject appear in different locations by imposing images. Gone are the days when photographers would go hunting for locations. Now all they have to do is hook up a green screen photography set up and click away.
Perhaps the most common use of this is weather forecast broadcast for TV news stations. The person telling the weather stands in front of green screen backdrops, pointing to maps and radar. (Photo Credit) Backgrounds change as information moves forward from city, state, national weather forecast to radar etc. While blue screen backgrounds are more commonly used, for digital photography, green screens have become popular due to the amount of lightning required to project quality image.
Photographers all over the world use green screens to create images that grab attention. The process of using green screens has made the experience cost effective and extremely efficient. The coordination however could get a little tricky as one has to have a clear picture in mind about what one wants.
Green screen drops come in all sizes and shapes. The least expensive backdrop will be a sheet from fabric store.
photographers can use backdrops of any colour like green, blue, purple,
an example of this is a music video of B.O.B ft Bruno Mars - nothin on you
the whole video is shot in a white room and the colour is cancelled out to be like a torn out photos put together. Because the artist probably could not have gone to all the locations like london, tokyo and new orleans so this cuts time and money at the same time. Also as a result in using the backdrop in a music video this will give more of an effect on the audience.
when actually filming with the back drop (green screen), the back drop has to be a specific colour, and when using it the person in the shot should not wear clothing is not the same colour as the backdrop. otherwise the person would have parts that would be missing. Also the back drop has to be properly lit ( four point lighting).

Photography 2
We have taken these photos because we wanted to get a idea of how the blue would look through the glass window and we think its really effective. When we decided to use blue rather then red, we had to research how it looks, how effective it is to the viewer and if we can incorporate it into a music video. After taking these photos we realised that the blue was really effective to use in the studio. As you can see in the top photos the blue folder really stands out on the desk and it adds a really nice effective to the image because everything else is black, white and grey. We wanted to research long shots and close ups of Samantha so that we could incorporate the shots into our music video.
