Self Directed Plenary

Concept of the video - the inspiration of the video we are making comes from Ciara - Like a boy and Beyonce - If I were boy both being in black and white so we took that concept. Plus we love the idea of a girl taking the role of a man so we are using one of my songs and having a girl act out all the parts.

Description - A low budget film filmed within a recording studio cutting into scenes of a performances at various locations. Camera angles involve a lot of close up to each person who raps on the mic. Over the shoulder shot on Wretch 32 when he's on the mic. A shot of Ed getting filmed through a iphone screen while he is performing. Some pan shots from Ed to his fans while he's performing. Medium shots taken at Devlin while he's in the booth through the glass. Very extreme close up on his face to show the expressions he has while he is rapping on the mic.

Drake - Find you love

Description - The story is about a man (drake) who is speeding off to the states to get ahead with his music career but is is love with a woman who is owned by one the 'mafia' leaders . At the start he is talking a wise old man who tells him to just run off to the states and warns him about not going to check out that girl. He goes to a club seeing the girl he is in love with the man who owns her.  There are cuts of him in a studio singing and making the song he is singing. The girl he loves notices Drake looking over at him and then it cuts into a scene with a man performing and people dancing when suddenly you see the woman standing near a wall while drake walks over to her. He starts to dance with her and then it cuts to scenes with him and her at a beach and other resorts. It cuts to a scene where an informer goes and tells this 'mafia' leader about the situation with Drake and this girl. The next scene is of drake walking through the streets having constant flashbacks with that girl and cuts into the studio and him recording. He comes to a house after his walk where he glances over the gate only to be the house of the girl he loves. She stand near the window with a very depressed expression on her face and Drake calling out to her only for Drake to turn around and she the thugs and the 'mafia' leader staring at him. He is then strapped up on a chair where the woman comes into the room and sits on the lap of the the 'mafia' leader when the man asks her to shoot Drake. She slowly begins to walk over to Drake with a gun held in her hand and goes behind Drake to shoot him. The shot ends with the note 'just got to say' and typography of FIND YOUR LOVE.

Kanye West - Power

Description - The video starts off with a close up on Kanye's face with him slowly rising among the pillars behind him. The camera slowly begins to zoom out on Kanye revealing more people or monsters in his video. You a beautiful woman with wings sitting a chair right next to Kanye and these women with horns with a cane's in their hands stomping on the ground. as the camera begins to zoom out more you see a few woman on the top of the video. One woman throws a veil over her face whereas the other woman thrown a bowl of water into their face. Suddenly a person with a knife beings to look like he/she is plunging into to kill Kanye. Two woman on the right begin to show affection to each other holding each other in their arms. Two people from the left at right jump ferociously into the air wielding their swords high in the air. the camera then begins to pan and zoom into the woman who's sitting on the chair near Kanye. Then pans and zooms into the woman who throws the bowl of water at herself. the camera is then also panned and zoomed into the women showing affection to each other and then again to the other person on the other side of the shot who is throwing water on herself. The camera is then zoomed out to a long shot only showing Kanye in front of pillars or a gate with the two men wielding the swords coming directly at Kanye to strike him down! Fireworks and sparkles fly out from each corner of the video and also from behind Kanye. The video then ends with the words POWER written across the scene and the scene Kanye was standing in.

Florence And The Machines - Rabbit Heart (Mise En Scene)

Clothes And Make-up: She is wearing white veils. This could resemble purity and innocence. The light from the video makes her face seem very white and bright plus she has red lipstick on which could emphasize love and and affection. She is wearing a white crown which could resemble some sort of authority over the other people. The man next to her in one scene seems to be wearing black which could resemble death.

Locations: It is set in the forest. Trees could resemble naturalness and the green of the trees could resemble earth. In other terms it could resemble 'Mother' nature and. The term mother could mean authority over something so she could be related to 'Mother' nature as a higher authority over the people around her.

Props: There is a harp. In Greek mythology the harp is used to resemble purity and power. It was what the Gods used to listen to music with and they would have their messengers playing music for them through the harp. There is an apple offered to Florence in one of the scenes. The apple is a sign of healthy eating and also deception. The story of Adam and Eve could be a good example of the apple. Also the table with food could resemble the last Supper with Jesus and his disciples which he then went onto being crucified. Jesus was a sacrifice for the sins of his people so Florence could a sacrifice for her people which we later see. The white box she's put into could resemble a form of coffin so she could be offering herself for a sacrifice. Also the box is white and there is lot of light emphasize on it. White could resemble new life, she could be sacrificing herself for a new life.

lighting: There is alot of sunshine in the third frame which emphasizes her really white face. The lighting is very High Key lighting. Everything seems very happy and warm and bright. This could be reflected back onto the location and what is going on in the video.

Actor Movements & Expressions: The choreograph seems 'seems to be loose and unprofessional but she seems spiritual' quoted by Sumaiya. The man in the black suit is is sitting next to Florence seems to acting out of age or very sinister. He seems very immature and he is trying to touch Florence when she really doesn't want him to. She flinches from the man grasp and pulls away from him. There is a young man on the other side of florence who offers her an happy. This person could be a good person due to the colours and facial expressions that person gives off. The apple is a healthy fruit and when Florence is offered the fruit she stares a couple of times at it. The two men next to her seem to want to touch Florence she pushes away from both their grasp. The man on the left seems very sinister and evil due to his facial expressions. He tries to grab the other money on his other side and when she decides to back away from him he begins to laugh under his hat. The man on the right side of Florence seems very innocent. His youthful face shines bright with the lighting and makes him seem very pure. His facial expressions seem blank and full of innocence.  Once Florence is set on the table to be put into a box, the people who were around he seem to stare at her lying there. They seem to not want her to go. The blank emotions of the men who carry Florence into the river in the box seem like they have no emotion. No emotion could resemble death because you have no emotions when you die so this could be liked back to it.

Narrative

• The story seems to be about a man who seems to be stressed out about a hard days work and he decides to blow off some steam by dancing about all over the hotel. 
• A man is sitting in a lobby when music starts to play some where in the background which he then decides to dance to. Soon in the video you see the man dancing around and flying from wall to wall like peter pan. 

Treatment

• The type of video is a dance video really promoting for people to break loose after a long stressful day. 
• The the video makes you want to to groove out to the music
• The genre of music seems like dance so its the ideal song to help people break loose. 
• the overall look of the video seems expensive yet simple. It's a simple working class man letting himself go after a hard days work. 
• The emotions you feel when you hear this type of music and video makes you feel good about yourself and calms your stresses. The music relaxes the mind and the video helps get the person watching it into a calm and chilled out mood. 

Connection to the song

• There could be a connection to Peter Pan because of the way the man seems to be zooming around the room. It seems child like which could express the feelings the man feels when he's breaking free because children don't have worries about everyday stresses such as jobs and bills. 

Mise En Scene 

• Clothes : The man seems to be in a grey suit with a white shirt and a red tie.
• Locations : The main location seems to be in a lobby of a Hotel of some sort. The scenes flick from the lobby, the escalators and the elevators. 
• Props : A bell is used as a prop. Also in the dance sequence the luggage cart is used. Red flowers and fancy vases are used in some scenes. Magazines are used. A painting of boats are used for one of the scenes. 
• Lighting : The lighting in the background seems dull and dark but there is emphasis of light on the main character. As the video progresses the lighting begins to lighten up and it seems brighter. When the image of the boats with the man floating on top of it comes up, the image of the boats seem more brighter. 
• Actor Movements/Expression : The actor rather stressed at first and then when the music begins to fade in he seems more enthusiastic. He soon bursts into a dance routine with a glow in his face. The signs of sadness and depression begin to wash away with every dance move he performs. There is form of excitement and a sigh or relief when he begins to fly about in the lobby. He begins to feel free and you can tell that from the expressions in his face. 

Camera Shots

• At the start the camera angle is zoomed out showing the hallway of the hotel but as the opening scene carries on it begins to zoom in on the character sitting on the chair. As the intro progresses the camera zooms in more into the character sitting on the chair. 
• As the man begins to slowly get out of his chair into his dance sequence the camera begins to zoom out. The camera slowly begins to follow the man around the hallway as he dances around. 
• Half way through the video the man jumps on top of a table. The camera at this point shows the whole body of the man and also the table he is standing on. The camera then slowly begins to zoom in the facial expressions of the man standing on the table. 
• After the man jumps off the table the camera begins to zoom out and face the mirrors on the wall. The camera facing the mirrors follows the man as he dances through the mirror corridor. 
• When the man jumps off the side of the railings the camera seems to be capturing high shots. As the man flies around the hallway the camera follows the man swishing and swooping through a long shot.
